Sea Eagle 393rl RazorLite Review: Kayak Overview
If you’re looking for a fast paddling, lightweight, super fun inflatable kayak that you can literally take with you anywhere, look no further. The Sea Eagle RazorLite 393rl is the ultimate blend of high-performance, cutting edge design, and portability.
The 393rl fully inflates to the recommended 10 PSI in just 7 minutes, and when deflated, packs down to just 22″ x 22″ x 12″ in size.
As with all of the Sea Eagle inflatable kayaks, the 393rl RazorLite is NMMA and CE certified. It is made of a super tough, 1100 Decitex reinforced material, and the kayak features overlapped seams, front and rear spray skirts, and dual open/close drain valves.
On the flip side, the Sea Eagle 393rl RazorLite has a large removable skeg at the back of the kayak for improved tracking ability. The 393rl’s tracking is outstanding — there is very little yaw.
The 393rl has six stainless steel D-rings for attaching the included Tall Back seat and tube footrest, and there are three chambers located at the port, starboard, and floor areas. The three one-way Halkey-Roberts air valves are top-notch, and allow you to easily inflate the kayak without having to worry about air escaping.
High-Quality, Drop Stitch Construction
The 393rl’s drop stitch construction increases the kayak’s overall rigidity while maintaining its super light weight. This has a big impact on the kayak’s performance ability.
A 3″ drop stitch material is used for the floor, while a 4″ drop stitch material is used for the kayak’s sidewalls. This special material essentially consists of thousands of extremely strong threads which connect the top and bottom fabric layers, basically creating tiny I-beam supports. This allows the 393rl to be inflated to a higher PSI than competing kayaks, making it more rigid and capable of achieving rigid kayak-like performance.
The bow and stern design on the 393rl is also noteworthy. Featuring a double concave profile at the bow and stern, the 393rl is able to achieve better lift and a reduction in drag and friction. It also cuts effortlessly through windy, choppy conditions thanks to the tough plastic molds at the bow and stern.
The 393rl features a beautiful straight hull design which results in an inflatable kayak that can paddle just as fast as a competing rigid model. There are many companies that promise rigid kayak-like performance from their inflatables, but Sea Eagle actually delivers.

Packages and Included Accessories
There are currently two 393rl configurations to choose from:
Both RazorLite 393rl packages essentially include the same accessories, aside from the upgraded carbon fiber paddle:
- Tall back seat
- Tube footrest
- 8′ AB40 paddle (Pro) or AB50 carbon fiber paddle (Pro Carbon)
- Hand pump
- Repair kit
The included backpack is very well made and should hold up to many years of use. It features super comfortable shoulder straps that are heavily padded, and a convenient drawstring closure.
At the bottom of the bag are large self-drain holes, and the sides, top, and bottom have mesh areas to allow for quick drying. The front of the bag has a convenient clear storage pocket.
Overall, the backpack measures 30″ tall, 58″ around, and has a total capacity of 11.5 cubic feet.
Tall Back Seat
The Sea Eagle Tall Back kayak seat attaches securely to the 393rl RazorLite with stainless steel D-rings and four adjustable straps. It is both lightweight and durable, weighing in at only two pounds.
The Tall Back seat is made of molded foam, and the 19″ high backrest offers good back support. It features a removable zippered rear storage pouch which is great for stashing your personal effects while out on the water.
The included RazorLite kayak adjustable footrest clips securely to the 393rl’s stainless steel D-rings and offers additional support and comfort when paddling.
The footrest features an extremely simple yet effective design, consisting of a nylon strap and 48mm PVC tube.
While we prefer having the footrest in place when out on the water, you have the option of not attaching it.
The Pro package includes Sea Eagle’s fiberglass AB40 paddle. The AB40 features a fiberglass reinforced blade and it weighs in at 2.92 pounds.
The 393rl Pro Carbon kit comes with an upgraded AB50 carbon fiber kayak paddle. The carbon fiber AB50 paddle shaves off about half a pound of weight when compared with the AB40, weighing in at 2.41 pounds. It features a super strong carbon fiberglass shaft and durable asymmetrical spoon blades.
The included hand pump features a special high-pressure design that allows you to quickly and easily pump up the RazorLite 393rl.
The pump’s shaft is made from durable aluminum, and it comes with a built-in pressure gauge, a one-way valve adapter, and a hose.
If you don’t plan on upgrading to an electric pump, this hand pump is reliable and gets the job done.
Last but not least, the RazorLite inflatable kayak repair kit comes with everything you need to do a patch if needed.
Included in the repair kit are 9″ x 4 3/4″ swatches of hull repair material, a single 1 ounce tube of glue, and a Halkey-Roberts valve replacement tool.
Chances are, you’ll never need this — but it’s better to have and not need than need and not have.
What’s the best way to clean the 393rl?
Just rinse the kayak off with fresh water and dry it after each use. Be sure to hit the tricky spots like the inside of the bow and stern. If you need a little additional cleaning power, some mild soap and water will do the trick.
Will the Sea Eagle 393rl RazorLite do well in whitewater rapids?
The 393rl is not your best choice if you’re planning on hitting the rapids. In this case, you would be better off with one of Sea Eagle’s Explorer kayaks.
Because of its performance-oriented design, the Sea Eagle RazorLite 393rl is not for everyone. It’s a narrow, lightweight, and extremely fast paddling inflatable kayak that is geared more for intermediate and advanced kayakers.
Having said that, if you’re looking for a high-performance inflatable solo kayak that is loaded with great features and top quality construction, the 393rl is a great choice. It is super fun to paddle, and with the included backpack, you can pack it down and take it anywhere.
Of course, the icing on the cake is Sea Eagle’s outstanding 3 year warranty and 180 day risk-free trial. Sea Eagle has been around since 1968, and they’re extremely focused on making the best performing and most durable inflatable kayaks money can buy. With the 393rl RazorLite, you’re getting a top-quality inflatable kayak that’s backed by a company who stands behind their gear 110%.
