Sea Eagle 370 Review: Kayak Overview

Sea Eagle 370 KayakThe Sea Eagle Sport line of inflatable kayaks has more or less been in existence since 1968. Over the years, many improvements have been made such as heavier duty materials and higher quality air valves. Today, Sea Eagle’s Sport kayaks are at the top of the pack when it comes to versatility, durability, and affordability.

The Sea Eagle 370 inflatable kayak is a great choice for both beginners and experienced paddlers. It features a super efficient hull shape and lightweight design, resulting in a fast, highly maneuverable kayak that excels in a wide variety of conditions.

SE370 I-beam Floor Upgrade

Sea Eagle SE370One of the major advantages of the latest SE370 model is the dramatically improved floor construction.

Originally, the Sea Eagle Sport kayaks featured a 7 tube I-beam floor. Recently, the floor design was completely revamped to a 5 tube design which had a dramatic impact on overall paddling performance.

With 5 tubes instead of 7, the majority of the Sea Eagle 370’s weight rests on the floor instead of the side chambers.

Another advantage of this design update was increased rigidity. The larger I-beam tubes are stiffer than the previously-used smaller versions, adding stiffness to the kayak’s floor and also boosting speed, tracking performance, and paddling efficiency

Deluxe Air Valves

Sea Eagle 370 Air ValvesThe five air valves on the Sea Eagle 370 are super reliable and extremely easy to use. They are one-way valves which means that you can pump air in without having to worry about it going right back out.

The air valves feature a larger opening which reduces the amount of time needed to inflate and deflate the 370, and they come with molded O-rings that can’t be lost. A sturdy outside cap seals the valve up completely, making it completely airtight.

Twin Rear Skegs

The Sea Eagle SE370 is a great tracking kayak, thanks to the twin rear skegs.

The skegs are made of an extremely durable, molded plastic that is basically indestructible. You won’t have to worry about breaking the skegs on rocks or other obstacles in the water — these things are built to last.Sea Eagle SE370 Skegs

Materials, Construction, and Additional Details

Sea Eagle used heavy-duty K80 PVC material for the outer skin of the 370. The kayak also features high-frequency welded seams, and there are three chambers located at the port, starboard, and floor of the 370.

The SE370 is NMMA certified and has a Class III whitewater rating. It has an open/close self-bailing drain valve, inflatable spray skirts, and a convenient bow and stern grab line.

Recommended inflation pressure is 1.1 PSI, and it only takes 8 minutes to pump the 370 up with the included foot pump.

Sea Eagle 370 Accessories Included

Sea Eagle 370 Deluxe KayakThe Sea Eagle 370 comes with everything needed to get out on the water.

The base model configuration (the Sea Eagle 370 Deluxe) comes with two 7’10” AB30 paddles, an A41 foot pump, the Sea Eagle 370 carry bag, two SEC kayak seats, and a small inflatable kayak repair kit. The SE370 is also backed by Sea Eagle’s industry-best 3 year warranty against manufacturer defects, and their 180 day risk-free, money back guarantee.

7’10” AB30 Paddles

The 7’10” AB30 paddles are great for kayaking. They feature double end asymmetrical Fibrylon blades and aluminum shafts.

The AB30 paddles break down easily into four pieces by depressing the snap lock buttons, and they weigh in at a little more than 2 1/2 pounds.

A41 Foot Pump

This high pressure manual foot pump is made of durable ABS plastic, and it features an extremely portable design. It takes less than 10 minutes to pump up the SE370 with the A41 pump.

Sea Eagle 370 Carry Bag

The included carry bag is nothing fancy, but it’s solid and gets the job done. The 370 packs down and fits neatly into the bag, making it super easy to transport and store the kayak when not in use.

The carry bag is made out of a tough 440 denier nylon fabric. It has a drawstring and a carry strap so you can throw it over your shoulder.

Dual Sea Eagle 370 SEC Seats

The Sea Eagle 370 Deluxe comes with basic SEC kayak seats. These seats are pretty comfortable and provide decent back support.

The Repair Kit

The included inflatable kayak repair kit includes a few PVC patches and two tubes of glue.

Optional Configurations

In addition to the Deluxe base model, Sea Eagle also offers three additional configurations for sale:

Sea Eagle 370 Sport Fishing

The Sea Eagle 370 fishing setup is basically the same price as the Deluxe configuration, but it’s configured to be a fishing kayak.

The 370 fishing package includes a single 7’10” AB30 paddle, the A41 foot pump, a single deluxe inflatable kayak seat, a multi-purpose storage box for your fishing gear, fishing rod holder attachments, a carry bag, and a small repair kit.

Sea Eagle 370 Pro Kayak

The Sea Eagle 370 Pro Kayak package includes a pair of 7’10” AB30 paddles, two deluxe inflatable kayak seats, a carry bag, the A41 foot pump, and a small repair kit. This is the most popular Sea Eagle 370 configuration.

Sea Eagle 370 QuikSail

Last but not least, the Sea Eagle 370 QuikSail package comes with everything you need to sail your SE370. You get the Sea Eagle QuikSail, a pair of 7’10” AB30 paddles, the A41 foot pump, a carry bag, and the small repair kit.

The Sea Eagle 370 QuikSail is an awesome package that gives you another great way to enjoy your SE370 kayak.

FAQ

The Sea Eagle 370 Deluxe vs. Pro — which package is the better choice?
The Sea Eagle 370 Pro package is the most popular configuration due to the upgraded seats. The deluxe SE370 seats are more comfortable and offer improved back support for paddling, fishing, and rowing.

How long does it take to pump up the Sea Eagle 370?
Total inflation time with the included foot pump is about 8 minutes.

Is the Sea Eagle SE370 suitable for fresh and salt water?
Absolutely! The hull material used for all of Sea Eagle’s inflatable kayaks is extremely durable and designed for use in both fresh and salt water.

Can I bring my dog in the Sea Eagle 370?
You sure can! The heavy-duty outer skin of the SE370 is designed to hold up to a lot of abuse — your dog’s nails won’t hurt the 370 (although it’s always good to keep them trimmed).

The Sea Eagle 330 vs. 370 — which is better?
The 330 and 370 are both great kayaks! The main difference, of course, is that the Sea Eagle 330 kayak has a shorter length and reduced carrying capacity (500 pounds vs. the 370’s 650 pounds). The SE330 and SE370 also have different package configurations for sale. For a complete overview of the differences between the SE330 and SE370, check out our Sea Eagle 330 vs. 370 comparison post.
