Review: Sea Eagle 473rl Specifications

Before we cover some more of the 473rl’s impressive features, let’s go through the technical specs.

The 473rl inflates in just 8 minutes, with an inflation pressure of 10psi. The exterior of the kayak measures 473cm x 76cm when fully inflated, and the interior measurements are 452cm x 53cm. Total hull weight is 17.2kg, and the overall load capacity of the 473rl RazorLite is a maximum of 340kg (2 adults/272kg + up to 68kg of gear). Deflated dimensions are just 76cm x 48cm x 23cm, so transporting the 473rl is a breeze.

The 473rl has three well-designed, one-way recessed air valves, and Sea Eagle used a 1100 Decitex reinforced material for the kayak’s unique drop stitch construction. There are three chambers (floor, port, and starboard), and the tubes measure 25.4cm (height) x 10cm (thickness).

As with Sea Eagle’s other inflatable boats and kayaks, the 473rl RazorLite features full NMMA certification. There are two open/close drain valves on the 473rl, and a large removable rear skeg maximizes tracking efficiency.

Lining the interior cabin are 14 D-rings for securing footrests, seats, and gear, and the 473rl comes standard with front/rear spray skirts and carry handles.

The Sea Eagle 473rl RazorLite kayak’s rigid stern and bow molds are the world’s first speed entry system consisting of a double concave profile that opens up into a flat planing surface. This precision entry/exit system enables the kayak’s bow mold to slice through water with ease, and the 473rl’s tapered side walls reduce drag and friction and creating lift. The result is one seriously fast inflatable kayak that exits as fast as it entered at the stern mold.

Another interesting feature of the Sea Eagle 473rl is the straight hull design. This design maximizes the hull waterline length and allows the kayak to paddle just as fast as any rigid kayak. The performance advantages of the straight hull are further enhanced by the 473rl’s very narrow width (just 25 inches at the waterline).
